Italian artist Filippo Giusti presented his solo exhibition at the Club de Industriales in Mexico City, an emblematic venue that brings together the country’s most influential business leaders and safeguards one of the eleven mural works that Rufino Tamayo painted in the capital.

Sponsored by Actinver, the show not only unveiled Giusti’s new series of paintings for the first time, but also featured a monumental, site-specific piece conceived to converse with Tamayo’s mural Energía, located in the same room. The artist carefully studied the space’s proportions and designed his work using the exact dimensions of the central fireplace that interrupts the original mural, symbolically integrating it into his composition. He also used the same type of wood to build a base that reinterprets the missing lower section of the mural, thus completing a visual and architectural dialogue between both works.

The result is a respectful, contemporary homage to the Oaxacan master, and at the same time a reflection on the continuity of art across time—a conversation between generations and artistic languages.

As the protagonist of this new piece, Giusti chose Morganna Love, a Mexican soprano and activist, who posed for the portrait and also offered a moving live opera performance during the celebratory cocktail. Her presence endowed the encounter between art, business, and collective memory with a scenic and spiritual dimension.

Giusti’s proposal, known as Essentialism, seeks to move beyond the surface to capture human essence. His work combines oil, acrylic, gold leaf, bronze powder, and natural gemstones, creating a fusion of the classical and the contemporary. Each piece invites an introspective gaze that calls for empathy and mutual recognition.

A resident of San Miguel de Allende since 2018, Giusti has become a cultural bridge between Italy and Mexico. His trajectory includes exhibitions in Mexico, Europe, and the United States, as well as participation in the Venice Biennale 2024 during Art for Tomorrow at Palazzo Diedo–Berggruen. In 2022, his show at the Museum of Art of Querétaro (MAQRO), supported by the Embassy of Italy, broke attendance records. The exhibition at the Club de Industriales marks a new chapter in his career, presenting his work in a private context that, for the first time, opened its doors to the public for an encounter with contemporary art.

Giusti’s Essentialism proposes not only an aesthetic but a philosophy: art as an act of empathy, introspection, and dialogue.

El artista italiano Filippo Giusti presentó su exposición individual en el Club de Industriales

de la Ciudad de México, un espacio emblemático que reúne a los empresarios más influyentes

del país y resguarda una de las once obras murales que Rufino Tamayo pintó en la capital

mexicana.

En esta muestra, patrocinada por Actinver, además de mostrar por primera vez su nueva serie

de cuadros, Giusti creó una pieza monumental inédita concebida especialmente para

dialogar con el mural Energía de Tamayo, ubicado en la misma sala. El artista estudió

cuidadosamente las proporciones del espacio y diseñó su obra con las mismas dimensiones

de la chimenea central que interrumpe el mural original, integrándola simbólicamente en su

composición. Además, utilizó el mismo tipo de madera para construir una base que reinterpreta

la sección inferior faltante del mural, completando así un diálogo visual y arquitectónico entre

ambas obras.

El resultado es un homenaje respetuoso y contemporáneo al maestro oaxaqueño, y al mismo

tiempo una reflexión sobre la continuidad del arte en el tiempo: una conversación entre

generaciones y lenguajes.

Como protagonista de esta nueva pieza, Giusti eligió a Morganna Love, soprano y activista

mexicana, quien posó para el retrato y además ofreció una emotiva interpretación de ópera en

vivo durante el cóctel celebrativo. Su presencia dotó de una dimensión escénica y espiritual al

encuentro entre arte, negocios y memoria colectiva.

La propuesta de Filippo Giusti, conocida como Esencialismo, busca trascender la superficie

para capturar la esencia humana. Su trabajo combina óleo, acrílico, hoja de oro, polvo de

bronce y gemas naturales, generando una fusión entre lo clásico y lo contemporáneo. Cada

una de sus obras propone una mirada introspectiva que invita a la empatía y al reconocimiento

mutuo.

Residente en San Miguel de Allende desde 2018, Giusti se ha convertido en un puente

cultural entre Italia y México. Su trayectoria incluye exposiciones en México, Europa y

Estados Unidos, además de su participación en la Bienal de Venecia 2024 durante el evento

Art for Tomorrow en el Palazzo Diedo–Berggruen. En 2022, su muestra en el Museo de Arte

de Querétaro (MAQRO), respaldada por la Embajada de Italia, rompió récords de asistencia.

La exposición en el Club de Industriales marca un nuevo capítulo en su carrera, al presentar su

obra en un contexto privado que por primera vez abre sus puertas al público para un encuentro

con el arte contemporáneo.

El Esencialismo de Giusti no solo propone una estética, sino una filosofía: el arte como acto

de empatía, introspección y diálogo.
